When Prophet Abraham returned from Palestine, he saw that his family was leading a good life and he was completely shocked.

Haj pilgrims first reach the city of Jiddah in Saudi Arabia.  From there they go to the city of Mecca by bus.  But just before Mecca there is a special place from where the official process of Hajj begins.  This special place starts from a radius of eight kilometers from the city of Mecca.  This special place is called Meeqat.  All the pilgrims going on Hajj wear a special kind of cloth from here which is called Ahram.  Although some people wear Ahram long ago.  Even some people sit in the plane wearing Ahram.

Ahram is not stitched.  Women do not need to wear Ahram, they can wear any clothes of their choice.  Apart from this, Hajis have to take care of many other things.

Haj pilgrims–

During this, husband and wife cannot have physical relations.

On reaching Mecca, Muslims first perform Umrah.  Umrah is a small religious process.  Hajj is performed in a particular month but Umrah can be performed at any time of the year.

But those who go on Hajj usually also perform Umrah, although it is not mandatory.

There are many religious rituals performed in Hajj during Umrah.

Number of Hajj pilgrims in Saudi Arabia officially begins on the 8th of the Islamic month of Zil-Hij.  On the 8th, Haji goes to the city of Mina, about 12 km from Mecca.  Haji spends the night of eight in Mina and reaches the plains of Arafat the next morning i.e. on the 9th.  Hajj pilgrims stand in the field of Arafat, remember Allah and ask Him for the forgiveness of their sins.  Haji Muzdalfa goes to the city in the evening and stays there on the night of the 9th.  On the morning of the 10th, the travelers again return to the city of Mina.
